Aloha State

Yesterday's dinner guests for Shavuot didn't make very much of a dent in the blueberry cheesecake so we invited another set of friends over to help us reduce its size some more. It was nice to have them over. The topic of our round-the-world trip naturally came up. I've been trying to book a bed and breakfast in Kailua, Oahu, Hawaii (where, by the way, President Obama has a presidential retreat). Paying for this bed and breakfast is too involved for us because we don't have a State-side checking account and the deadline for reserving it is too close and our departure date from Israel is too close to make this a viable option. We bounced alternative ideas off our friends and now it is clear what we should do while we are on Oahu. Getting a room in Honolulu will simplify our visit to Oahu so much! Today I "virtually" drove from Honolulu to Kailua via Google Maps Street View. Looks like a pleasant enough half-hour drive each way. I also checked baggage limitations on the airlines to connect Oahu Island with Hawaii Island. We don't have a problem in that realm either. Looks like we can relax now about Hawaii. The devil is in the details and these have now been tamed by today's decisions. Looking forward to reaching the Aloha State.
